While we fell short of our fundraising goal, this is a day of celebration and gratitude to everyone who dug deep to support us in our time of grave need. We were astounded by the hundreds of contributions ranging between £5.00 and £7,000 pounds(!). It caused more than a disguised tear or two from grizzled veterans to learn learn how important this news organisation is to so many. My deepest thanks go out to all of you, many struggling yourselves in this economy, who made such generous one-time gifts. We also received nearly 3 dozen recurring pledges of £5-£10 pounds per month. Those ongoing contributions are the cash flow lifeblood that keeps us going for the long term.
We are able to hang on thanks to all of you. You are our progressive heroes.
We will redouble our efforts to quietly make up the shortfall. Today though we reflect in gratitude. Your donations and kind words across social media platforms meant so very much to us here. We were gabsmocked when several of our 44 columnist contributors were among the first to jump and reached into their own pockets to help keep this most vital platform going. That is a level of friendship and dedication we will never forget. You are the lifeblood of this publication. I wish we could pay each of you 10x over what your writing is worth to us. Your gracious acts these past few weeks meant so very, very much. When aol offers us $300 million dollars for our platform, you will be first in line to benefit unlike some news sites!
We thank you and bow deeply in awe of everyone’s generosity.
And please, if you did not participate, perhaps were busy or thought someone else would do it for you, well… they didn’t. We’re still short. The donate button remains at the top right of every page. We need YOUR support to help keep keep independent media vital, free and independent.
