Ahead of Thursday’s meeting of EU interior and justice ministers in Brussels, European Commissioner Günther Oettinger criticized Belgian security services for “not cooperating sufficiently” with one another.


“In Brussels alone there are several different police agencies, which do not cooperate sufficiently,” Oettinger was quoted as saying. “This cannot continue.”


The Commissioner said he expects the EU interior and justice ministers, meeting in the Belgian capital two days after ISIL attacks killed 31 people and injured hundreds of others, to decide on ways to remove barriers in the exchange of information.
