Kesha Rogers LaRouche Connection

Texas Democrats face a difficult decision. Do they embrace Rogers’ candidacy, and risk alienating the party’s progressive base? Or do they reject her candidacy, and risk being seen as intolerant of diversity within the party?”

Texas Democrats have a plan to turn the Lone Star State into a purple and ultimately a blue state, with state Senator Wendy Davis as their candidate for governor. However, recent polls have revealed that a black woman named Kesha Rogers is now leading the field of candidates in the Senate race against John Cornyn (R, Texas).

On her campaign website, Rogers claims she wants to restore the legacy of JFK and FDR in Texas. While this may seem like a sign of progress, a closer look at Rogers’ background reveals a different story. She is a follower of Lyndon LaRouche, a fringe political cult leader who has been accused of espousing fascist, racist and anti-Semitic views. LaRouche also supports policies such as space colonization, a quarantine for everyone with AIDS, and opposition to abortion and gay rights.

The decision facing Texas Democrats is a difficult one. Do they embrace Rogers’ candidacy and risk alienating their progressive base? Or do they reject her candidacy and risk being seen as intolerant of diversity within the party?

Lyndon LaRouche’s 91-year-old political career has taken an unexpected turn with the emergence of his supporters on the ballot, such as Kesha Rogers. Rogers has been vocal in her comparison of President Obama to Hitler, and in her opposition to Obamacare. Her views, which have been likened to those of the Tea Party, are far more extreme and insidious.

African-American voters, seeing Rogers’ name on the same ticket as Wendy Davis, may be unaware of her true political agenda. However, there are many who can see through the deception. The recent poll of potential Democratic senators has Rogers leading with 35%, followed by 27% for David Alameel, 15% for Maxey Scherr, 14% for Harry Kim and 9% for Michael Fjetland. Alameel is investing $3 million in the race, and Scherr may soon overtake Rogers. If Rogers were to win the Democratic runoff, her candidacy would be unlikely to be successful against Cornyn in the general election, but it would be an embarrassment to Texas Democrats.

Lyndon LaRouche and Rogers are counting on Obama-supporting Texans to be unaware of the fine print. As former President George W. Bush once said, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, you can’t get fooled again.” It is clear that the LaRouche camp is attempting to deceive Obama supporters, and this presents a risk of them being fooled.
