Ep. 189: Trump’s Holiday Siege

Poor Donnie could not fly to his private club at Mar-a-Lago and instead shut the government down for now two weeks and was trapped all alone in the White House… Tweeting every day away and generally making an ass of himself in the process. He told Chuck and Nancy the government shutdown could go on for months or even years, pretended sickouts by non-paid but essential TSA agents at major airports on the busiest travel weekend of this year would not harm security or cause a problem insisting that former Presidents supported the shutdown for the wall (except Obama, W. Bush, Clinton and Carter supported his shutdown for his freaking wall funding after telling associates that backing down would make him look bad.

So many things made him look bad, from firing General Mattis as the Defence Chief (after he very pointedly resigned and explained why), which then had to be explained to Trump who said instead of leaving on 28 February, get out now, you insulted me, your Commander in Chief. He unilaterally Tweeted we would get out of Syria, leaving our allies the Kurds unprotected against a Turkish genocide. Ignored more evidence Russia hacked or election and continues to support Trump on Social Media disinformation campaigns, had a second child die on his watch and ignored it. North Korea threatened retaliation over his fresh sanctions, and targeted the satire show Saturday Night Live for being mean to him, finally visited Iraq and lied to the troops there about a non-existent 10% pay rise, freaked out for 11 straight days on Twitter about Nancy Pelosi becoming Speaker of the House, watched the markets crater in late December and suggested he could simply declare a state of emergency, bypass Congress and have the military build his border wall. I kid you not…

In the UK Brexit is in real danger and no one knows what will happen when Parliament votes down May’s plan. Manufacturers say the UK faces a skilled worker shortage because of Brexit and a ferry company with no ships will help us get emergency food, supplies and medical items across the Channel when we crash out of the EU. Again a no bid contract was given to do this from an un-dredged port, with no ships and their website uses T&Cs language copied and pasted from a food delivery service website, without changing a single word… here’s £13.8 million pounds. You cannot make this up.

I keep saying we can never take two weeks off…
