Jared Fogle’s ex-wife alleges Subway covered up his pedophilia in bombshell lawsuit

Longtime Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography last year, but now it seems that his former employer might be in some legal trouble of its own.

The Daily Beast reports that Fogle’s ex-wife Katie McLaughlin has filed a lawsuit against Subway in which she alleges the sandwich chain knew about Fogle’s pedophilia for years while continuing to employ him.

Specifically, the suit alleges that Subway received tips that Fogle had solicited children, and yet it still sent him to elementary schools to do events promoting nutrition among young children. The suit also claims that the company knowingly withheld information about Fogle’s pedophilia from McLaughlin because it thought he would be more “grounded” if he stayed married to her.

“The safety of kids was not a priority but Subway’s bottom line was,” the lawsuit claims. “To drive sales, Subway ignored its corporate responsibility and provided a platform for him to prey on children by sending him to elementary schools all over the country.”

Among other things, the suit alleges that Subway’s senior vice president of marketing in 2004 received a report about Fogle soliciting a young girl at an event in Las Vegas. Additionally, the suit claims that a Subway franchisee warned then-CEO Jeff Moody in 2008 that Fogle told her he liked having sex with children between the ages or 9 and 16 — and yet Moody took no action.
