CNN’s Jim Acosta on Thursday accused President Trump of holding a “fake news conference” by calling on a friendly reporter, pushing back at Trump’s attacks on CNN as “fake news.”
Trump on Thursday held a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, during which he took two questions — one of which was from the Daily Mail’s David Martosko, who acknowledged talking to the Trump administration about taking a job with them.
“Trump finally held a news conference overseas. But he took a question from a friendly reporter and then attacked CNN as ‘fake news,’ ” Acosta said in a tweet.
“Isn’t it a ‘fake news conference’ to take a question from a reporter who is essentially an ally of the White House?”
“One of the questions came from a reporter who acknowledged he had just talked to WH about a job last month,” he added, with a link to a story in The Hill about Martosko backing out of talks with the White House to join Trump’s communications team.
